Traditions & Events
A hundred years of traditions bring our families together.
Highlights of the school year:
-
Biltmore Day: Students and teachers celebrate the anniversary of the school's founding in 1926.
-
Hispanic Heritage Showcase: During Hispanic Heritage Month, every class performs a dance representing a Spanish-speaking country for an audience of families.
-
Golden Fields Fall Festival and Harvest Spirit Week: A week of themed dress-up days leads into an afternoon of fall games, food and activities for the whole family.
-
Celebration of Cultures Potluck: Right before Thanksgiving, each family brings a traditional dish from its culture to share with the whole Biltmore community.
-
Winter Show: Before the holiday break, students take the stage with songs, dances and performances for their families.
-
January Annual Sleepover: This Biltmore tradition dates back to the 1970’s. Students, parents and teachers enjoy a fun filled night at the school. We BBQ, make S’mores, and enjoy each other. The next morning we have breakfast together and then go home to recover.
-
Annual Picnic & Exhibition: Students spend months exploring one school-wide inquiry theme, then present their findings in our learning galleries while families share a picnic on campus. 2027 is the 23rd year.
-
Read Across America: A celebration of reading, with guest readers and book-themed activities in every classroom.
-
Spring Music & Dance Recital: Students show what they learned in music class, and our dancers perform the routine they practiced all year.
-
Field Day: Students of every grade compete in outdoor games and races for medals and prizes, with families cheering them on.
-
Portfolio Presentations and Graduation: We celebrate PreK, Kindergarten, 5th grade and 8th Grade graduations to acknowledge they met an important milestone or completion of a program.
